Chlamydia Screening Programme
The National Chlamydia Screening Programme recommends that all young people have a chlamydia test at least every year (from when you start having sex), or each time they have sex with a new partner without using a condom. This is regardless of whether they or their partner have any signs or symptoms. All they have to do is provide a sample of urine in a pot (‘pee in a pot’).
GPs and Pharmacies in the Croydon Borough can join the Chlamydia Screening Programme. They can order kits for free from Croydon Sexual Health Centre to give out to patients under the age of 25 who live within the Croydon Borough. They can post the kits back to us in a pre-paid envelope. The GPs and Pharmacies will receive a fee for each kit successfully returned to Croydon Sexual Health Centre.
Croydon Sexual Health Centre will process the kits and text the results to patients within 10 working days (usually quicker). If the patient tests positive they will be offered an appointment in clinic - or alternatively can receive treatment at their GP or pharmacy.
We can also provide kits to some voluntary organisations.
